International Projects: Health and Nurtrition Grant value over $250,00 Project Title Department Description Partners
This grant will implement and evaluate a multi-faceted
series of evidence-based interventions aimed at
decreasing epilepsy-associated stigma, improving the
socioeconomic status of PWE and lowering the rates of
seizure-related morbidity and mortality in four Zambian Provinces. Five distinct interventions will be initiated and for each intervention, intermediate outcomes (process measures) will be assessed.
The goal of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness

and psychiatric outcomes in Ugandan children who
survive severe malaria and to evaluate whether severity
of malaria illness (e.g., immunological brain inflammation, EEG abnormalities) is predictive of neuropsychological benefit from CCRT.
Determinants of Malaria Disease INTERNAL MEDICINE,
The main goal of this research is to establish a self-
sustaining research entity capable of developing the
scientific basis for designing, implementing, and
evaluating malaria control and prevention strategies and
to identify, understand and evaluate interventions that
target the determinants of malaria disease by
systematically surveying populations of vectors, hosts
and parasites using newly developed molecular and
genomic tools in conjunction with well-established

children are the most vulnerable HIV subgroup globally
because their families are often the most vulnerable, with
little margin for sustaining a favorable developmental milieu for the child. Through strategic caregiver interventions during this sensitive period of child neurodevelopment, our study findings have the potential for positively re-directing the developmental trajectories of tens of millions of HIV-affected children globally.
